Every year, Suffolk Public Schools applies for Federal Impact Aid funds from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are to compensate the school division for the loss of local tax dollars on tax-exempt federal property. Funds received from Federal Impact Aid are used for basic education programs district-wide.
Suffolk Public Schools received about $360,000 in Federal Impact Aid funding each year.
Suffolk Public Schools will distribute Federal Impact Aid Survey Forms with a November 4, 2015 survey date. This year, the forms are green.
Parents need to complete and sign a form for each child, and return it to the school by December.
The forms have changed this year, there are three sections: 1. Civilians, non-military who work on Federal property; 2. Active duty uniformed services; and 3. Foreign military.
It is imperative that parents fill out a separate form for EACH child attending Suffolk Public Schools. Please be accurate and consistent when filling out multiple forms. It is essential that the forms be filled out completely with an original signature of the parent/guardian. The information provided is used ONLY to determine federal Impact aid allotments and is not shared with any other source.
