Arthur LeMasters has always been passionate about education. At 96 years old, Mr. LeMasters visits Creekside several times a week to share stories of his military experiences and read to students. The father of Creekside Music teacher Larry LeMasters, Arthur was a Chief Navy Medical Corpsman for over 20 years, and after his retirement from the Navy became a PE teacher and taught in Portsmouth High Schools for an additional 20 years! During Veterans’ Day week, Arthur spoke with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes about his time in the Pacific with the Marine Paratroopers. He has read stories such as Francis Scott Key and the Star Spangled Banner and “M” is for Music to our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classes. The students are enthralled with his tales and thrilled to hear about his life experiences. We are so honored to have Arthur LeMasters share his time and talents with us here at Creekside!
